About – Lucy Clitheroe

Lucy Clitheroe is an artist and educator living in London, UK.

Originally from The Peak District, Lucy Clitheroe (b. 1996) graduated from The Drawing Year at The Royal Drawing School, London in 2020.

Prior to this, she studied Painting and Printmaking at The Glasgow School of Art from 2015-2018. During this time, Lucy spent time in Vienna, studying Abstract Painting at The Academy of Fine Art (Akademie der Kunst).

Her degree show was selected for the New Scottish Contempories; she exhibited at the National Gallery in Edinburgh in 2019.

Working predominantly in drawing and painting, her practice focuses on portrayal and abstraction of natural forms and the landscapes from her childhood home in the North of England.

Lucy’s work heavily relies on chance and is very much led by the abilities and relationships of her medium, and how the materials can be manipulated.

Lucy currently lives and works in South East London. Alongside her practice, she is a tutor for the Young Artist Programme at the Royal Drawing School.
